Junior Rachel Clinton, along with two other Mira Costa High School students, performed in the pit orchestra for The Wizard of Oz with the Encore Theatre Group.

“It was a really fun experience to play in that pit orchestra because all of the other musicians were very welcoming,” Clinton said.

Clinton and senior Lulu Yu played the violin, and senior Joseph Oliva played the bassoon in seven shows that occurred over the course of a week long period. Performances of “The Wizard of Oz” took place on the 5th, 6th, 12th, and 13th of January at the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center.

“I had so much fun playing in the pit orchestra! I have always loved musicals, so getting the opportunity to perform with a professional theater company like Encore was such special experience for me,” Clinton said. “I hope to continue playing in pit orchestras for other musicals in the future.”
