Mira Costa’s boys water polo fought for their first win of the season against Murrieta Valley at Mira Costa on Friday, August 30. The top performer in the 17-8 win was junior, Jake Carter, who scored a total of four goals.

Jake Carter’s first three goals were scored at the very beginning of the game which helped lead to the very end. Goalie, Finn Condren contributed greatly with defense, but Dillon Clifton took over for the second half. At the last two minutes of the game sophomore, Victor Katz scored the final goal for Costa. Murrieta managed to get two more in leaving the final score to be 17-8.

“Everyone on the team played really well for our first game and I’m excited to see what the team can do this year,” Carter said.

The Mustangs are scheduled to play in a tournament at Santa Barbara from September fifth to seventh. The winning streak for Mira Costa is one and Bay League can not be determined yet.

“In this next tournament, I think we will be able to make it to the finals because we see ourselves as top competitors in division one and two, which not many teams can say about themselves,” Condren said.
