“Mulan” is one of the best movies produced in 2020, with impeccable acting and pleasant viewing experience. Additionally, the film’s pacing is perfect.
The costumes, props, and structures chosen for the film are phenomenal, matching directly to each scene powerfully. The plot of the movie is so original, that there is no other movie like it. It is unique as it portrays such powerful feminism.
Released on September 4 on Disney+, “Mulan” is directed by Niki Caro, and the creative costumes were designed by Bina Diageler.
Throughout the film, Liu Yifei who plays Hau Mulan, goes through a unique journey in an attempt to bring honor to her family. The village receives a decree that each family must bring one man to the Imperial Army to fight against Northern Invaders. Hau Mulan pretending to be a son of the Hau Family goes to fight in place of her father.
The acting in this film is realistic as the actors play their part to the best of their ability. They act every emotion which makes the movie more interesting and depicts life. Watching the movie seems as if one were there with the characters.
Viewers are able to follow the plot of the entire movie without getting lost. The movie pace is perfect having viewers intuned until the very end. Not everything is obvious, making the film interesting to watch; trying to figure out what is to happen next in every scene.
The film had a lot of choices to what the purpose of the film portrays to the viewers. Feminism was embedded into each of the scenes; the ideal of women power and it was appropriately brought onto the screen.
Feminism is a widely spread ideal in the 21st century and “Mulan” blends in this ideal amazingly with the main character Mulan. She struggles by being in an environment where females are to bring honor only by marriage and no other way. Mulan demonstrates a gift of a warrior and is told to hide away her true potential.
The originality of the film is incomparable. Including scenes about women being treated unequally is the starting point to what an original film “Mulan” is. The plot is detailed and is demonstrated through the flawless acting on screen.
A significant element that makes the film original is the amount of detail brought into it. In this film the effects are so perfectly implemented and it is able to demonstrate the hardships and conflict clearer. The scenes of action were so well filmed making it as realistic as possible.
Overall, the film is a must-see. It keeps viewers awaiting the next scene with anticipation, and the intense adrenaline that the film evokes will have viewers sitting on the edge of their seat.
“Mulan” is available to stream on Disney+ with premium access for $29.99, and is rated PG-13.
