With voguish, familiar sounds, Wallows endears its long-time listeners in their latest release, “Remote.”

“Remote” provides a quick, entertaining glimpse into the truly special sound that Wallows has curated over the course of their career. The EP’s impeccable cohesion combined with its diverse beats and instrumentals make for a fantastic, seasoned compilation of songs, impressing new and doting listeners alike.

Wallows is a three-piece alternative band formed in 2017. The group consists of Dylan Minnette, Braeden Lemasters and Cole Preston, who have been playing music together since childhood. Their first single,“Pleaser,” was released in 2017 and ranked number two on Spotify’s Global Viral 50. The group has since gone on to perform sold-out shows at celebrated Los Angeles venues such as the Roxy and the Troubadour, and their first album, “Nothing Happens,” has received much acclaim amongst the alternative community.

Released on Oct. 23 by Atlantic Records, “Remote” consists of six tracks. The EP’s sixth track, “Wish Me Luck,” is accompanied with an animated music video.

“Remote” is, most prominently, a testament to the unique sound that Wallows has cultivated over the span of their career. While each song has its own aspect of individuality, the six-track release capitalizes off of its cohesion, proving to its listeners that Wallows’ strongest weapon is their well-crafted and defined sound.

An additional strength of the album is its reputable musicianship. All three members of the group are talented, dexterous musicians, and that is quite evident on “Remote.” Distinguished instrumentals and personable lyricism lend itself to both the group’s amiable presence and this particular release.

The EP’s most principally enjoyable track is found in “Dig What You Dug.” The song is an excellent example of Wallows’ exciting alternative sound, and certainly endears long-time fans of the group. With strong musicality and a catchy rhythm, the track is a repeat-worthy listen.

“Remote” is an entertaining, acclaim-worthy release. With its undoubtedly admirable musical technique and illustrious alternative sound, the EP is an enjoyable experience for both new listeners and dedicated fans.

Released on Oct. 23, “Remote” is available on most streaming platforms, including Spotify and Apple Music.
