Rodrigo’s first released album ‘Sour’ has raised standards by releasing original sounds while truly expressing her emotions in each song

Rodrigo brings out different types of music genres including rock, pop, etc. Her music surprises many listeners since she branches out of her Disney image.

Rodrigo is an American actress and singer. She first was introduced to the entertainment world through acting. She came out on a Disney Plus show called High School Musical: The Series, but all of this led to her success with her original songs.

Released by Geffen Records, “Sour” has broken records, while debuting and scoring the biggest album first debut, besting top albums such as Taylor Swift. “Sour” is composed of 11 tracks in the album.

Rodrigo shows raw emotions in each of her songs. The album is mainly about a heartbreak that an 18 year old girl had to go through. The song “Drivers License” came out before the album was released. This song ended up breaking Spotify Records for the most streamed song in a week.

“Sour” shows the pain that Rodrigo went through. She expresses how she went through hardships and constantly had pain during her relationship and even after. She gets listeners to feel distinct and a variety of emotions, such as rage, sadness, jealousy, etc.

Rodrigo surprises many because no song is like another. She released some songs that were soft pop music, while also releasing some music that are soft rock. She shows that she can branch into different genres while still giving her story to her fans.

One of her most popular songs is ‘good 4 u’ which establishes Rodrigo’s anger captivated listeners around. This song is about how her previous relationship always was one sided. For example, after a heartbreak and a breakup, she’s talking about how she’s not emotionally stable while he’s happy.

Another track in her exceptional album is ‘enough for you’ which is Rodrigo singing about how all she wanted was to be enough for him. This song shows a dark part of relationships that truly showed listeners that it’s normal for there to be attachments even after a relationship that ended.

In general, Olivia Rodrigo has come far from Disney to branch out into writing surreal and raw emotional music. She establishes that she’s still in the middle of her journey.

“Sour” was released on May 21 and can be streamed on Spotify and Apple Music,  iTunes and Google Play which can be purchased.
