Seniors Zach Davis, Jake Henry, Alex Digilio, Owen Spencer and Colin Wyse started a podcast called “We Sorta Know Sports,” where they highlight and discuss recent events that have taken place in professional sports.

“It was the beginning of sports and the NFL season was starting,” Davis said. “We felt like we had strong conversations with each other, and we felt like it would be fun to share it with the world.”

The podcast’s first episode launched in September of 2021, and the boys have tried to keep up with posting semiweekly. According to Digilio, since starting the podcast, the boys’ friendships have grown much closer.

“We cover the NBA, NFL, and MLB,” Davis said. “Each episode usually lasts an hour, and we make arguments, give our opinions, try to cover the sports world in its current form and cover what happened that week in the world of sports.”

Since its initial release, “We Sorta Know Sports” has had a total of five episodes, ranging from topics about football, baseball, basketball, and more. The podcast can be found on both Spotify and Apple Podcasts for interested listeners.

“The podcast has definitely brought us closer together,” Digilio said. “I always look forward to filming episodes. We try to keep episodes to one hour minimum, but honestly we could talk for three if we really tried. I really hope that we’ll continue the podcast in the future next year, but nothing is certain with college around the corner.”

The podcast is typically filmed in Davis’ garage, where the five boys split two microphones. It usually takes them around one hour to produce the podcast and another hour to edit, making the total production time around two hours per episode.

“I think just coming together and talking is the best part,” Digilio said. “Even though we are recording it, it’s really just a conversation that we are all having together. We get a lot of good laughs every episode, and it is just really nice to be together with your friends talking about something you are all passionate about.”

According to Davis, the boys stick to talking solely about professional sports, as it often leads to a bigger discussion. After months of recording “We Sorta Know Sports,” the boys have figured out the way they structure their podcast.

“We like discussing the more global de- bates in sports as they allow for more conversation and friendly arguments,” Davis said. “For right now the structure of each recording is NFL first, NBA second, and MLB third, and that usually comes out to around an hour-long episode.”
