Costa girls lacrosse destroyed Palisades, 21-3, in its first full game of the season on Feb. 17, after the previous game was canceled.

The Mustangs started off strong, only letting in three goals in the first half and scoring 14 of their own. One of the top performers was freshman midfielder Kate Donnelley, scoring five of Costa’s total goals.

“I think it went really well, and it was really fun,” freshman midfielder Kate Donnelley said. “We played really well together, and I’m excited to see how far we go this season.”

The second half remained scoreless for the first ten minutes until Costa prevailed and scored seven times before the end of the half, while preventing any more goals by Palisades. The team’s next game will be away on Mar. 2 against El Segundo High School.

“Our first home game was so fun and exciting,” freshman midfielder Elizabeth Witherell said. “So many different people scored and we played well as a team. I can’t wait for the rest of the season and more games like tonight.”
