Seniors Van Eisenberg and Casey Pavilick defy the odds against them to win the game senior assassin and a cash prize of $200.

On May 4th Eisenberg and Pavilick entered and joined senior assassin. This game has been a tradition at Costa for years where seniors divide into teams of two to shoot assigned people with water guns to win a prize. The only rules are to be safe between 3-7 pm to wear swimming goggles.

“We really wanted to win the luxurious cash prize,” said Eisenberg. “ This also gave us the opportunity to stalk our classmates to get an advantage and win the game”

With about 100 seniors a part of the game Eisenberg and Pavilick were focussed on strategizing and making plans to kill their first target senior Ellie Goeghan. They also caught Senior Maya Fabrizio breaking the rule of turning her snapchat location off and got her disqualified .

“Our goal was to catch them lacking and then go for the shot,” said Pavlick. “Eisenberg once smacked a girl in the face to avoid getting shot and eliminated ”

Eisenberg and Pavlick would plan their kills and strategize over facetime. They wanted to ensure success and make sure there was no risk of them getting caught. According to Pavlick they kept their eyes on the prize throughout the whole game.

As the game advanced Eisenberg and Pavlick were on high alert and watching out for the unknown trying to shoot them. They had to wear goggles everywhere they went after school. When they were assigned to kill senior Kelley Sussman they efficiently and quickly shot her while she was walking.

“Van and I camped out for hours waiting to surprise attack our victim” said Pavlick. “We would catch them early in the morning when they weren’t ready or prepared”

“It was tough to wear goggles everywhere and remember,” said Eisenberg. “We were almost at the end and after we shot Sussman we felt that victory would come soon”

Towards the end of the game they shot senior Riley Hansen after her soccer practice. Then they killed senior Ella Davis while she was shopping and won the game due to achieving the most kills. They eliminated about seven fellow seniors.

“At the end of the game it got more intense with the smaller group of people but we had to doubt that we were gonna win,” said Eisenberg. “Our first kills were easier but it was more fun at the end when we won”

As they advanced through the game they struggled with the paranoia of getting shot but ultimately dominated the competition. Their favorite part of the game was the competitiveness shown by all seniors.

“We highly recommend this game for underclassmen to play their senior year, ” Eisenberg said. “It is a great way to bond with my senior class one more time before we all part ways and go to college”

In the fall, Eisenberg will be attending San Diego State University (SDSU) and Pavlick will be attending Michigan State University. They hope to have many more fun experiences like senior assassin in college and are looking forward to meeting new people.

“This game was a great way to end the year,” said Pavlick. “It is bittersweet leaving Costa but I am very excited for my next journey and adventures”
