Directed by Tim Burton himself, Burton takes his viewers on a twisted murder mystery that takes place throughout the town of Jericho. The cast consists of Jenna Ortega playing Wednesday; Gwendoline Christie playing Principal Weems; Hunter Doohan playing the crazed killer; another potential love interest is Percy Hynes White, playing Xavier and finally one of the teachers, who is the mastermind behind the crimes, is Christian Ricci who played Wednesday back in 1991.

Throughout its 8 episodes, the show takes its viewers through a moderately scary murder mystery. The show presents dark sense of humor, gore, love, drama, and an overall intense feel to it. Though it’s not a terrifying show, it’s definitely something to keep readers hooked and wanting more.

Burton made sure every scene was done to perfection. The spooky plot and the overall supernatural feel is refreshing since Netflix has lacked this genre of shows. With a crazy killer monster on the loose, some blood was shed and lives were lost.

The actor Wednesday’s humor can be seen to be dark throughout the show. Wednesday’s an intriguing character due to a deadly attitude. She does a unique job at executing her character, highlighting that beauty can be more than blond hair and blue eyes. Like, dark hair with long braids hanging from complimenting her dark color pallet.

Love triangles are essential in order to advance the film’s plot. In a show like “Wednesday” in order to not bore the viewers on an endless chase for a monster, the producers added some love drama to keep people entertained. Wednesday doesn’t let this minor inconvenience of a love triangle stop her mission, which is very inspiring. The character lets her viewers know that they don’t need to derail their life in order to impress a boy, which is quite refreshing.

Though this is a chilling show, the drama factor is huge. Having a love trangle alone could be enough to keep a show alive, but with a murder mystery and a stong minded girl who doesn’t listen to anymore, drama definitely plays a role. Wednesday brings opinions in constantly throughout the show even though everyone disagrees with the views, which adds a perfect drama component.

Eerie music and dark lighting brings an undeniably eerie feel to the show. The show is about witches, sires, future tellers ect. The producers work with great lighting and music to execute the monster’s personality.

Wednesday was created as a smart independent teenager, which is very inspiring to young viewers watching. Not only is there a strong young woman as the main character, the show also is a mix of horror, drama, comedy and suspense.

“Wednesday” is rated TV-14 and can be seen exclusively on Netflix.
