On Saturday, the Mustangs battled in their home game against St. John Bosco, but sustained a
loss with a final score of 29-22. According to senior flyman Nick Signorelli, the Mustangs
showed a great effort all around, but the team ultimately came short, losing by seven points.

The Mustangs started out strong early in the first half, according to senior prop Owen Razon.
Razon scored the first try for five points, nearly 10 minutes into the game, enabling Costa to
make the two-point conversion. Senior wing Adam Muwakki finished off the quarter with a field
goal, sealing the lead and ending the half, 10-5.

“Our start to the game was strong and very important,” Signorelli said. “We were making good
low tackles, which forced our opponent to turn over the ball.”

In the second half, the Mustangs’ defense began to falter. Bosco was gaining a lot of
momentum and playing well offensively, but Razon managed to score his second goal of the
game.

“We were giving a great effort, but we couldn’t make efficient tackles,” Razon said. “Bosco was
making too many line breaks, which put them in position to start scoring a lot more.”
Late into the second half, it was back and forth, with both Costa and Bosco trading tries. Senior
wing Adam Muwakki scored his first goal of the game on a long run into the corner of the
scoring zone. However, Bosco was able to score a last-second try, ultimately winning the game.

“I think we could’ve played better on offense, as well as spread the ball wider to set up
opportunities for our wings,” Signorelli said. “Even though we lost, we played a very good
defensive game with Bosco, who had much bigger players than us.”

According to Signorelli, the star player of the game was Razon. Razon scored two goals
allowing Costa to keep up with the Bosco Braves. According to his teammates, Razon stepped
up to the plate as captain and was a significant player in the game.

“Owen played great and stepped up as captain,” Signorelli said. “He scored twice against a very
physical team with much bigger players. He’s been the best forward, and the game certainly
wouldn’t have been as close without his effort.”

According to Razon, the team has built chemistry over the course of the season, and has made
some very close ties. They have developed some very close friendships and have created a
strong brotherhood.

“We are a pretty close-knit team,” Razon said. “We definitely build more chemistry as the
season goes on. I couldn’t ask for a better team.”

Costa is currently five games into the season, with a record of 2-3. Costa will be on the road
tomorrow, heading down to San Diego to play St. Augustine at 12 p.m.

“We plan to recover from our loss and come back even stronger for our next game against St.
Augustine, which will be very important,” Razon said. “With three games left in the season to
play, the boys are going to fight the hardest we can and finish the season off strong.”
