Netflix aired their fifth season of ‘Drive to Survive’ which had fans eager to see behind the scenes drama, driver interviews, and the team principal meetings.

Released on Feb. 24, ‘Drive to Survive’ cast was composed of the 20 Formula drivers on the grid, their team principles, their mechanics, team strategists, the head owner of Formula 1 and all of the fans.

This season takes place all over the world, going to 21 different countries, starting in March and ending around the middle of November. The season starts off with the Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto and the Haas team principal Guenther Steiner meeting up so Mattia could show off his own personal vineyard. Even though the season started off with old mates hanging out it helped set the tone of how the F1 season started with all the rivalries in the 2022 season.

Netflix did interviews with the drivers willing to participate and Max Verstappen was never a driver willing to do an interview until this most recent 2022 season. Despite Verstappen disagreeing with the ways his fellow drivers were portrayed in previous seasons he decided to share very short and simple words with the producers.

When the shocking news that 4 of the 20 drivers would not be returning for the 2023 season including 4 time world champion Sebastian Vettel, viewers were excited to see what kind of tribute the producers would make for them. Once the new season dropped fans were upset that Vettel got no recognition despite everything he had worked for in the sport.

Daniel Riccardo, who was referred to as Honey Badger, was one of the 4 drivers not returning to the F1 2023 season with a seat as part of the Mclaren racing team. After the 2022 season ended Riccardo gave his audience amazing news that he would be Red Bull’s 2023 reserve driver, giving fans chills because of how well Riccardo performed as a former Red Bull racing driver.

The additional parts in this season where the team principals live outside of F1 were some perfect additions to add to the episodes. Showing that F1 drivers, principles, and every person working in these big corporations are able to have a life outside of such a competitive sport gave the viewers a glimpse of what they do outside of their busy lives.

The camera crew did an outstanding job with getting all of the angles on and off of the race track. Clips include near death crashes, drama with other drivers on the grid, the support from their fans, and also including close ups of the team principals losing their minds when something goes wrong.

This show lets their audience watch a drama filled, binge worthy sports show that keeps you on the edge of your seat. ‘Drive to Survive’ stands firmly with Netflix standards with making sure their audience is not upset with the content they are providing.
