Boys baseball defeated Redondo High School, 2-1, on Tuesday on Senior Day and the last home game of the regular season, prevailing against their Bay League rivals.

According to senior outfielder Jack Nammack, having a crowd in the stands was great motivation throughout the game.

“We feed off the energy of the fans during all of our games,” Nammack said.

In a low-scoring game, according to Nammack, the Mustang defense was the biggest factor in the win against the Sea Hawks.

“With the large crowd, it kept us amped up throughout the game.” Nammack said.

The Mustangs were able to force a quick inning in the top of the 7th, giving the Mustang offense a chance to close out the game with a win. In the bottom of the 7th, senior fielder Truman Polich had a walk-off RBI hit to win the game for the Mustangs.

“I think the biggest play in the game was the inning in the top of the 7th,” Nammack said. “It gave us a lot of momentum for our offense going into the bottom of the inning.”

With the win over the Sea Hawks, the Mustangs have a record of 12-15 and prepare to close out the regular season.

“With our new coach, we knew it would take some time to adjust, but I still have had a great time playing for this team,” Nammack said.

Tuesday was the final home game for the senior players, and many felt bittersweet leaving Mira Costa, according to Nammack.

“My favorite memory was probably our game on Tuesday because there’s no better way to beat your rival than on a walk-off,” Nammack said.
