The album covers many difficult points in Bryan’s life, such as the death of a loved one, career struggles, and addiction. These experiences produced meaningful lyrics in his songs. In the song, “East Side Sorrow,” he describes the terror he felt while witnessing his friends’ deaths serving in the Navy. Bryan embraces the struggles that come with life, making the record unique.
