Varsity Football falls short to San Juan Hills

The Mustangs fought hard at home against renown San Juan Hills football team. The score was Mustangs 20, San Juan Hills 28. The Mustangs came out strong with a 14-0 lead. The Mustangs held the lead till the fourth quarter until a well coached and talented San Juan Hills wide receiver led the team to an impressive comeback in the final 3 minutes. With San Juan Hills scoring three unanswered touchdowns, they ran away with the game.

The Mustangs were led by a few key players. On offense it was led by senior number 10 Reece Leonard scoring 2 key touchdowns keeping the Mira Costa football team ahead of their opponent. On defense, junior Eli Cebula had 2 pass breakups.

“Our team is starting to look very promising. After losing our first three games we are hungry for a win. The team has been putting in the hours and are ready for Villa Park,” said Cebula.

On Friday, September 20th, the Mustangs will take on Villa Park at home. After beating Villa Park in 2022 28-21, they are looking to bring home the first win of the season.
