The Mira Costa boys water polo team played a rematch against the team it beat in CIF playoffs last year, La Canada. However, on October 7, the Mustangs were unable to respond to three late goals by La Canada and lost by a score of 9-7.
Senior Josh Huttinger scored two goals late in the fourth quarter for Costa, but the Mustangs defense was unable to hold onto the lead in the last three minutes.
The boys record now falls below .500 as they move to 6-7 overall and 0-1 in Bay League. They will look to improve on their play in their next game against Damien on October 8 at home.
