The Mira Costa boys basketball team defeated San Bernardino High School in a miraculous victory on Feb. 16 in the first round of CIF. Before the game, the future looked dark for Costa as the Mustangs’ record was not up to par. However, they rebuked any doubt in their game at San Bernardino when they stole the win with a final score of 62-54.

Seniors Elliot Ozer and Thomas Johnson were the top performers for the Mustangs. Ozer dominated with 25 points and 5 rebounds while Johnson added 11 points and 4 rebounds. Sophomore Cole Feaster scored 12 points for the Mustangs and junior Karl Acres contributed 10 points and 8 rebounds.

Costa’s record now stands at 10-17 overall for the season and 2-8 in the Bay League. The Mustangs play Royal High School on Feb. 18 at home for the second round of CIF.
