To kick off the 2012 season, the Mira Costa baseball team faced Long Beach Poly in a double-header at home on Saturday, Feb. 25. After 12 innings of play, junior second baseman Jack Hadley hit a walk-off single to win the game for the Mustangs, 5-4. Junior Gordon Cardenas pitched six and two-thirds innings and had seven strikeouts in his no decision effort.
Senior Anthony Lombardo started the second game and contributed a double to the effort, though the Mustangs were shut out 4-0. Costa will play tomorrow against Los Alamitos at home at 3:15 p.m.
