The Mira Costa boys and girls swim teams competed in their first competition of the season against El Segundo at home on March 13. The boys and girls won with scores of 89-81 and 118-39, respectively.
For the boys, senior Ryan Reede finished with a time of 52.27 seconds in the 100-meter free. For girls, junior Mariel Mitsakos won both the 200-meter free and 500-meter free with times of 2:01.87 and 5:26.40, respectively.
The boys team will swim again in the South Bay Invitational Prelims on Tuesday and the girls will compete the following day.
