On Friday September 14 the Mustang Football played the South Torrance at South. The Mustangs won with a score of 35-14.

The Costa team was down in the first half with a score of 7-0, but managed to gain the lead at the start of the second half. Senior quarterback Khalil McClain had two running touchdowns, one of which was 47 yards.

“We came into the game a little too confident,” senior running back Raphael Lawson-Gayle said. “As the game went on we adjusted to South and we got the spark we were missing in the first half.”

The Mustangs play again on Friday September 21 at home against Loyola High School. Costa’s record is 2-1 and Loyola’s record is 3-1.

“We have a tough stretch of games,” coach Donald Morrow said. “Starting with Loyola, Newport, then Bay League. These next four weeks will tell a lot.”
