The Mustangs beat Brentwood on Monday, 13-5. The match took place at Brentwood High School, where the Mustangs started with a strong lead and continued it throughout their matches.

“The team was prepared and excited going into the match, especially after we beat Loyola last week,” senior singles player Kelly Giese said. “It definitely boosted our confidence and helped us beat Brentwood by 8 matches.”

Top performer of Tuesday’s match was sophomore William Lokier. He played singles all three rounds and won 6-0 in the first round, and won with a score of 6-3 in both the second and third round.

“Last season I played doubles so I’m super excited to play singles this year,” sophomore William Lokier said. “In singles I definitely have to be more focused but it is easier because I can make up my own tactics and plays against my opponent.”

The next match takes place at home on Thursday against Windward at Mira Costa. According to Jake Burns, the Mustangs are excited to play against Windward and take another win at home.

“We now have a winning record of 2-0 to start the season off which is really good,” senior doubles player Jensen Ring said. “We have some tough matches coming up so we are going to continue to practice hard and work together as a team and hopefully we will keep our winning streak.”
