Girls cross country places fourth at Mount SAC

On Saturday October 20th, the boys and girls varsity cross country teams participated in the 65th annual Mount SAC Invitational. The boys team placed 17th out of 17 teams in their race, and the girls placed fourth out of 13 teams.

Senior Michael Goldberg placed 26th overall and first for Mira Costa with a time of 16:06, senior Justin Macdonald finished 66th overall and second for Costa with a time of 16:44, and senior Dillon Shambaugh finished 99th overall and third for Costa with a time of 17:23.

“We didn’t perform as well as we would have liked to at this meet,” Goldberg said. “Hopefully we will be able to improve before Bay League finals at Polliwog.”

Sophomore Emma Lautanen finished first for Mira Costa and eighth overall with a time of 18:36, senior Lauren Hagadorn finished second for Costa finished 17th overall with a time of 18:55, and sophomore Natasha Bruinstein finished third for Costa and 22nd overall.

“I was very impressed with our team,” said Bruinstein said. “I’m am really excited to see how we perform at Bay League finals coming off of this.”

The team’s next meet will be on Thursday, November 1st at Polliwog Park in Manhattan Beach.
