Girls basketball defeats Wilson High School in first game of La Habra tournament

The Mira Costa girls basketball team played their first game of the La Habra tournament on Dec. 3 against Wilson High School. The Mustangs won with a final score of 39-31, making their overall record 3-3.

The girls were behind at the end of the first quarter but came back and took the lead 19-18 by the end of the second quarter. Junior Camille Mills was the top scorer with nine points for Costa. Sophomore Haley Tojo made seven points and senior Shannon Savino scored six points for the Mustangs.

“I’m really happy we did so well in this game and started off this tournament with a win,” Mills said. “Our team is really coming together as a whole and hopefully we can win this tournament.”

The girls will play Thousand Oaks on Tuesday Dec. 4 against Thousand Oaks at 3 p.m.
