The Mira Costa girls basketball team lost to Bishop Montgomery High School on Thursday, Jan. 3. The Mustangs lost 56-37 after a close game against the Knights, with the lead shifting back and forth throughout the game.

Sophomore Keilani Ikehara was the top scorer for Costa, scoring 11 points while senior Rachel Humphrey contributed with eight points. At the end of the first quarter, the Mustangs were only down by one score of 15-14. Costa was unable to regain the lead.

“We went out in this game with a lot of energy and played well,” Humphrey said. “It was a great game and the score constantly went back and forth but when it came down to the end, Bishop was just a better team.”

The girls played at home on Saturday, Jan. 5 against North Torrance High School.
