Boys soccer loses to West Torrance in overtime

The Mira Costa boys varsity soccer team played a home game on Friday, Jan. 25 against West Torrance High School. The boys lost the game 3-2 in overtime.

In the first half of the game, West Torrance scored a goal and Costa followed it up with a goal of their own, tying the game 1-1 at the half. In the second half West was able to secure a lead; however, the Costa boys fought back and tied up the game 2-2 in the final seconds of regulation.

In the second half of overtime, West scored another goal, while Costa was not able to score, losing the game in overtime with a final score of 3-2.

“It was a tough loss,” senior Grant Southwood said. “I’m still proud of how we played and was impressed with our team.”

The boys’ next game will take place on Tuesday, Jan. 29 away at Redondo Union High School.
