While the boys water season came to a close, several Mira Costa students are a part of Trojan Water Polo club. This highly aggressive club team plays in several tournaments year round.

Costa students include sophomores Gage Stroman, Andrew Todd, Chase Williams, Bowen Boullianne, Brandon Lavinsky, Charlie Durham, Edward Jeon, Jack Heagy, Nick Dale and Dylan Koester. All of these players are on the A team which consists of the best players in the club.

“Everybody on the team is really supportive and ready to practice every day,” attacker Stroman said.

These players practice five days a week from five to seven pm in the Mira Costa pool. These practices consist of swimming laps, running drills, and playing scrimmages.

“Practice is definitely hard but in the end its a good workout and it benefits us all,” shooting guard Boullianne said.

Certain players are a part of Olympic Development Program as well. The program is only for advanced players who are hoping to play in the Junior Olympics. The best players from each zone or area are selected to become a part of the National team training camp after the Zone Championships in San Diego this March. Members include Stroman and Todd.

“I’m really excited for this championship,” Todd said. ” I think its going to be really competitive but I’m confident in our team.”

Trojan Club recently won the Kap 7 tournament two weeks ago in Orange County against several other club teams.

“It is always an amazing feeling to win and know that everything we have been working for paid off in the end,” Durham said.

Trojan has an upcoming tournament, the Iron Man, in which elite teams in all of California play to win for a prestigious title in May.

“I cannot wait to crush all the other teams at Iron Man,” Jeon said. “ It is probably the biggest of all the tournaments and I know we can win it.”
