The Mira Costa Mustangs baseball team played Palos Verdes High School at Mira Costa on May 15th. The Mustangs got off to a slow start and by the end it was too late for them to mount a comeback. Costa lost the game, 7-2.

Senior right fielder Ryan Corral went two for three, scoring one run and drawing a walk. Sophomore pitcher Trevor Franklin contributed with two of Costa’s three strikeouts.

“It was an amazing feeling to spend my last game of my high school career playing with my senior class,” Corral said. “It was a very special game, even though we did not get the win. I got to play with my friends and that is all that I needed.”

Palos Verdes started the game off with five runs in the top of the first inning. Costa answered back by scoring two runs in the bottom of the fourth. The Sea Kings came back and scored two runs in the top of the seventh to secure the win.

“We did not play our best,” Franklin said. “It was a great game though, because we got to play with people that we will probably never play with again. We just needed to come out stronger that is all.”

This was the Mustangs last game of the season ending with a season record of 10-21-0. This record was not good enough to qualify for California Interscholastic Federation.
