Costa principal Dr. Ben Dale and the members of Ed Council ratified a plan for a reframed shared governance system at the end of the last school year to address problems of inefficiency that led Dale to disband Ed Council in March.

The new plan allows for the creation of standing committees, in which teachers who are not co-chairs of their department can collaborate to address specific issues, such as campus security or curriculum. Ed Council sets goals and deadlines for these committees and approves their proposals.

“We want to be more efficient, and one of the ways we can do that is by being more organized and getting more people involved,” Dale said.

he next meeting is planned to take place on Tuesday.

“We’re going to see how the news system works in practice,” History Department co-chair Steve Singhieser said.
