The dance team will host its annual Lip Sync competition on Jan. 7 after postponing the original Nov. 18 date due to Costa’s closure because of anonymous threats.
Lip Sync is an annual competition in which various individuals and groups perform and lip sync their music of choice.

“Although Lip Sync was postponed last-minute, I am hopeful that it will be an event worth participating in,” dance team co-captain and senior Quinn Gardner said.

Various Costa organizations are performing at the event, including Associated Student Body and Black Scholars Union. Friendship Circle will also perform this year for the first time in an effort to become more intermixed in school activities.

“I’ve enjoyed watching the excitement and fun all the special needs students have been experiencing,” Friendship Circle co-president and senior Alex Graves said. “I can tell that they enjoy the opportunity to put on a show with their friends.”

Tickets for Lip Sync can be purchased from any dance team member or from coach Victoria Brown for $4. Money raised will be used to pay for the dance team’s national competition.

“Each year the different acts bring out new personalities to the stage,” Gardner said. “It is a great way to bring our school together.”
