Construction plans now include the presence of over 800 tiles in the new quad featuring the names of all retired Mira Costa teachers and staff members.

The Mira Costa Alumni Association has started this project with the intent to honor all those who have dedicated themselves to helping Mira Costa’s education system over the past 65 years.

“We are honoring all teachers who have ever been here for their time they have spent teaching students at Costa,” principal Ben Dale said. “It is a great way to honor all the teachers who have helped make Mira Costa the outstanding school it is.”

All teachers have had an impact on their students and they are now being honored for it. Their hard work and dedication has been greatly appreciated for many years and they are now being recognized for it.

“It is gratifying to be recognized for our work,” Fredricks said. “I always believed that our faculty was second to none and that it could match up against any faculty in the country. To have former students validate our teaching is incredibly rewarding.”

The construction of the new quad will be completed sometime next year but tiles will continue to be added to the expanding piece as more staff retires.

“I think it is a wonderful way to keep memory alive,” Fredricks said. “We’ve all had teachers who have pointed the way for us, who have been our mentors, and who have greatly impacted the path our lives have taken.”
