The boys lacrosse team (7-5-0) loss to Peninsula on Friday in an away game with the final score being 10-2. Junior goalie John Vansickle helped the team with his continuous saves.

When the defense failed to stop Peninsula’s attacks, Vansickle continually blocked goals. Vansickle gained possession for Costa so they could start to create an attack which lead to their three goals.

“Our defense did not perform very well against Peninsula,” Vansickle said. “We did not shut down their attacks and were unprepared for their fast paced play. Hopefully we can learn from this and pull out a Bay League win this season.”

Costa takes on Redondo Wednesday and Palos Verdes Friday for the final two games in Bay League season. These games will determine whether or not they move onto CIF play because they have yet to win a Bay League game.

“I really hope we can pull off wins next week,” Vansickle said. “It has been a disappointing season so far so hopefully we can learn from our mistakes and move onto CIF. We need to learn to get possession in defense so we can create an attack”
