Track defeats Inglewood, Morningside by a landslide

The Mira Costa High School Track and Field team hosted both Morningside and Inglewood High School on Thursday for a home meet.
The Mustangs finished on top with a final score 80-47, maintaining their undefeated record of 6-0.

Student athletes that contributed to Costa’s victory include senior Matt O’Brien, who finished first for long distance with a time of 4:51 in the 1600 meter race. Senior Juwan Johnson also helped the Mustangs in the field division with a 120’6 throw for discuss and freshman Jonah Tavai earned points for the team with a 44 in shot put.

“It feels great to be finishing my year strong,” Johnson said. “I’m excited for the Redondo meet and to see what we have to accomplished CIF.”

The Mustangs next travel to Redondo Union for an away meet on Thursday.
