The Mira Costa Mustangs beat Bay League rivals Palos Verdes on Tuesday at Chester Washington Golf Course. After an excellent score of 33 on the front nine, Junior Carson Armstrong was able to put the Mustangs ahead with an overall score 146-154.

Armstrong started off strong with a birdie on his first hole and was very consistent with the distance of his drive. Armstrong was able to secure a win with key putts on the eighth and ninth hole of the match putting the Mustangs ahead.

“Once I got the first hole out of the way I was able to get into a groove and I really made sure that I was hitting the ball straight by trusting my technique and making sure not to overswing,” said Armstrong.

The Mustangs will take on Santa Monica High School today at Chester Washington Golf course hoping to increase their record to 9-1 on the season. The Mustangs are currently first in bay league with an undefeated record.

“The boys were able to play a high level of golf today with help from Armstrong shooting a 33 and sinking some important putts. Overall it was a great team win and we are excited to keep moving forward,” said coach Ryan Branning.
