“Got Your Six” showcases Five Finger Death Punch’s musical ability while still keeping their same heavy metal sound with singing that complements each song perfectly.

Five Finger Death Punch’s newest release “Got Your Six” carries the same strong sound as their previous albums. With each song carrying the similar message of facing their demons inside and problems the band has faced with the media this album has become one of their best works.

The band currently consists of Lead singer Ivan Moody, lead guitarist and backup vocalist Jason Hook, drummer Jeremy Spencer, bassist and backup vocalist Chris Kael, rhythm guitarist Zoltán Báthory. The band has gone through many changes but is currently touring with this group of artists.

Since 2005 they have released five studio albums and have spent most time out of the studio touring with various other bands and been in many metal summer festivals. They are currently touring for this album with the band Papa Roach.

The album starts off presenting one of the popular themes of the album of their problems with the media in the song “Got Your Six,” brings up how even though the band has gone through hardships they will not quit and will continue to produce music.

This important theme is brought up again “Wash It All Away,” which focuses on the problems of the music industry and how it affects his life. Moody sings about how the media only hurts him and brings his mental problems into the spotlight.

The rest of the album brings up the theme of their demons inside of themselves. This starts off with the song “Jekyll and Hyde,” where Moody sings about how even though he tries to “Wear a smile on my face, but there’s a demon inside,” showing how he is forced to act nice but is torn up on the inside. This is complemented with superb singing and each instrument flowing perfectly together throughout the song.

With his mental issues continuing to plague his life he attempts to numb his own pain as shown in their fast paced song full of deep emotions “Hell To Pay.” He shows how his life has been affected by trying to fix his own life but only continues to make himself feel worse.

The story of the album continues with the song “Digging My Own Grave,” whereas Moody realizes the problems that he has created for himself he wants to give up. This song focuses on more of his own mental issues is slower in pace to start with but speeds up to express his anger with his situation he has put himself into.

The album rounds off this story of pain and sadness with the song “This Is My War.” Moody focuses on how now that he realized what he has put himself into he must fight to save himself and knows it won’t be an easy time. Now that he has started to move past his past problems he must make it his duty to fix himself for his own reasons.

Five Finger Death Punch showed their extreme talents in “Got your Six,” with beautifully sung lyrics about how while mental issues aren’t easily seen they are still there. This is done with their Heavy Metal background is still an important part of their musical act.

The album can be purchased online and in stores for $11.95.
