The Mira Costa girls tennis team had another close match on Thursday, tying the Beverly Hills tennis team in games but winning in points, 80-78, at a home game at 3 p.m.

According to junior Lena Nagy, the top performers of the day were juniors Maddie Giese and Jackie Soliman. They were down in the beginning of the game until Giese took an overhead shot that landed right on the line, earning the pair a point. The pair ended up winning that game 6-4.

“I was really impressed on how well Giese and Soliman were able to return shots and stay focused yesterday,” Nagy said.

So far this season, Costa is 8-1 overall and is 3-0 in Bay League. Their next match is at Costa against Campbell Hall High school on Monday at 3 p.m.

“Our team will have many tough matches coming up in the future, including the one against Campbell Hall on Monday,” Gaal said. “Our team has a lot of talent this year and I am confident in our chances.”
