Mira Costa’s girls volleyball team traveled to Las Vegas for the Durango tournament on Friday and Saturday where they placed 7th overall, playing against Centennial, Beckman, Clovis, Los Alamitos, Xavier College Prep and Sacred Heart.

On Friday, the Mustangs played three games against Centennial, Beckman and Clovis and won all three. On Saturday, Costa played three games against Los Alamitos, Xavier College Prep and Sacred Heart. Costa lost against Xavier College Prep and Sacred Heart.

“We came out strong and competed with the best of the teams there; the second day we started strong and played well, but didn’t quite get the finish we were looking for,” junior setter Britt Bommer said. “We were hoping to place higher than we came in at but we were still proud of how we played.”

With a current overall record of 10-2, the Mustangs take on Sacred Heart on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart.

“For the next few games we’re expecting more fire and energy from everyone,” Bomer said. “It’s going to be a fun season and we’re all looking forward to it.”
