Mira Costa’s hockey team ended their six-game winning streak on Sunday, with a tie, 5-5, against Manhattan Beach at the Toyota Sports Center and top performances by senior Ryan Miller, senior Oliver Gable, and junior Wyatt Light.

Costa fell behind in the first period with four goals by Manhattan Beach and only one by Miller for Costa. Costa picked it up with goals by Gable and Miller and one for Manhattan Beach. The Mustangs tied up the game with two goals by Light and Miller, ending it 5-5, Costa’s record now six wins and one tie.

“We were a little flat for the first period but managed to find a way to come back to end the game in a tie,” forward Miller said. “Next time we need just as much energy and effort throughout the entire game.”

Costa’s next game is Tuesday against Redondo at 7:30 p.m. at the Toyota Sports Center. Redondo’s current record is six wins and one loss and its top player Hirotaka Cox.

“Redondo’s record looks a lot like ours,” freshman Ty Dillman said. “It is going to be a good game. We have to take as many shots as we can and keep the puck away from our net.”
