Mira Costa’s boys soccer defeated South East 1-0 on Thursday at South East High School, with top performances by senior center midfielder Tyler Livingston, who scored the tiebreaking goal.

After an uneventful first half with no goals for either team, Livingston scored the only goal of the game during the middle of the second half. The Mustangs’ indomitable defensive line was able to keep South East from scoring for the remainder of the game. According to senior Adrian Caldevilla, the boys had strong defensive pressure.

“We realized from the start it was going to be a different game than what we were used to playing,” Caldevilla said. “We managed to adapt and finish our opportunities, giving us the win.”

Costa is now 2-0 and will play its next game away against North Torrance High School on Tuesday at 3 p.m. According to senior Adam Bedingfield, the team will continue to put in hard work during practices to prepare for upcoming games.

“If we continue at our current rate, we are going to do very well against North next game,” Bedingfield said.
