Mira Costa’s boys basketball defeated University High School on Wednesday in a non conference home game. Multiple players were able to step up, as senior guard and team leader Quenton Jackson is out with a broken bone in his hand.

Sophomore guard Bobby Barkley had 16 points along with six rebounds and four assists, while senior guard Johnny Mims totaled 13 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and 3 steals. According to Mims his concentration and energy was what allowed him to play so well.

“I think I did well on the defensive end and played with energy,” Mims said. “I was doing the little things well which helped me set my teammates and myself up to score.”

The Mustangs are now 10-6 overall and will next play Villa Park in a non-conference away game on Friday. According to sophomore guard Bobby Barkley, the team will continue to focus on their defense and ability to play as a unit.

“Right now we just have to concentrate on how we play together,” Barkley said. “Everybody has to contribute, and focus on every possession.”
