Mira Costa’s boys soccer team lost to Peninsula 3-1 in an away game on Friday. The Mustangs lack of defense in an uneventful second half led to their loss.

Costa started out strong with a goal scored in the first half by junior Anand Sarathy. He scored with a header from the corner of the field. However, Costa was unable to stop Penninsula from scoring the next 3 goals. According to senior Adam Bedingfield the boys were making unnecessary mistakes and were not playing the game they usually play.

“We didn’t play that well overall,” Bedingfield said. “We have great potential but we didn’t show it during our game.”

Costa, now 5-2, will play its next game against El Segundo on Tuesday at 3pm at home. According to senior Adrian Caldevilla, the boys plan to come out stronger next game.

“I think our mindset has changed,” Caldevilla said. “We’ve had a rough start to the season and we need to get some points under our belt.”
