Mira Costa’s softball team placed second in the Katella tournament on Saturday at Katella, winning against Loara 4-2 and losing in the championship round to Claremont 6-4, placing second overall.

The team started off strong in the game against Loara with a home-run by junior Emily Eudy at her first up-to bat and strong defense and strike-outs from the whole team. While the team played strong, they were unable to defeat Claremont. According to senior Sabrina Enomoto, the team was strong due to its feeling of family and its impenetrable defense.

“Overall, we came out fighting,” Enomoto said. “The team had some great energy and we stayed together as a team and really functioned as a single unit.”

Costa’s record is currently 4-5 overall. They will play Cypress on Tuesday at Cypress High School. According to Enomoto, the team should do well in California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) if the girls keep working hard.

“We need to work on keeping our energy up for our double header,” Enomoto said. “Also, we need to keep our chins up and not psych ourselves out when we lose a run.”
