Girls lacrosse loses to rival Redondo 8-6

Mira Costa’s girls lacrosse lost to Redondo Union High School 8-6 in a Bay League match on Tuesday at Redondo, with top performances by senior Kayla Sugimoto and sophomore Charlie Manley.

 

It was a tough game for the Mustangs. On the offensive side of the field the Mustangs scored six goals from Sugimoto and Manley and senior Kayla Knowles. According to Sugimoto, the team played hard and didn’t give up throughout the game.

 

“We came out hard and although we didn’t get the win I’m still so proud of how we played,” Sugimoto said. “as this is our biggest rivalry game I’m just excited about how we didn’t give up.”

 

The Mustangs are currently 7-5 overall and 2-1 in Bay League. The team’s next game is against El Segundo High School at El Segundo on Friday. According to senior captain Ally Keasler, the team played hard and has more to work on.

 

“Although we didn’t come out with the win we played the entire game as a team,” said Keasler. “On Friday we need to work on the basic and have the battle mindset.”
