The Mira Costa Visual Arts Department is hosting its 16th annual All-Media Art Show at the Manhattan Beach Art Center in which Costa art students can showcase their artwork from April 22 to Saturday.

Visual art students at Costa produced all of the displayed work, which included drawings, paintings, mixed media arts pieces, sculptures, ceramics, photography, fashion pieces and video installations.

“This Costa art show is really special because all of the pieces are so unique to the artist,” sophomore Caleigh Canales said. “Most of the pieces of artwork often translate strong ideas or messages that are perplexing to interpret but still moving.”

This exhibition acts as the culminating art show of the year for all of the visual art students at Costa, and it has no specific theme. Its purpose is to showcase some of the best works the students have created during the school year, junior Ruby Murphy said.

The opening ceremony took place on April 22 where students won awards for their artwork and junior Asha Berkes performed live music.

“This is so special since it’s our culminating event for the year, and we take so much pride in it,” Art teacher Katherine Martin said. “It’s extra special since it showcases so much artwork.”
