Cross Country places third and seventh in Nike Pre-National meet

Mira Costa’s cross country team competed at the Nike Pre-National meet, in Portland Meadows, on Saturday.

The boys team finished third overall, with a time of 81:19, while the girls took seventh, with a time of 97:21. Top performers included senior Elizabeth Chittenden took sixteenth in the women’s individual meet with the time of 18:38. While junior Xavier Court, who placed thirty-seventh, with a time of 16:09, in the men’s individual meet.

“The team is committed, the guys and girls are committed to the weekend runs,” said boys’ cross country coach Roberto Calderon,” the team is working really hard, and in return, we will be reducing our mileage in order to be ready for our future meets.”

Costa’s next meet will be the South Bay Cup, taking place at the Columbia Park Course, on Friday. According to Coach Calderon, the team has been working really hard, and has the most mileage Costa has ever had.

“We’re moving in the right direction, and we are making the right steps to win future races,” Calderon said,” Last week we spent a significant amount of time working on the intensity and volume.”
