Superintendent Dr. Michael Matthews and Manhattan Beach Middle School Principal Kim Linz sent out emails to families yesterday notifying them of an investigation involving an alleged misconduct by an unnamed MBMS employee.

The Manhattan Beach Police Department is conducting this investigation, however MBPD is not allowing any specifics of the incident to be released. The employee has been placed on home assignment, according to the email.

While there is a presumption of innocence in matters of this nature, the District takes each and every reported act of misconduct seriously,” Linz stated in the email. “We are committed to aggressively pursuing each case to determine the truth and, if necessary, initiate the appropriate disciplinary or administrative measures.”

The district is providing those who may be affected by this incident with intervention counselors in order to assist them. According to the email, Linz requests that anyone with information that may assist in the investigation releases it to authorities.

I would like to reassure all of our families that the school and District will take every precaution to maximize the safety of students and staff at our schools,” Linz said.
