Mira Costa’s bands held their annual Winter Concert in the auditorium on Dec. 9, featuring a classical holiday theme.

The six groups that performed at the band concert were the Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Wind Symphony, Percussion Studio, Jazz 1 and Combined Jazz. Each group played two pieces and at the end of the performance, all of the ensembles combined to play the piece, “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year.”

“The pieces this year were more technically and emotionally challenging, and we are working on how to draw emotion and technical precision,” senior Elisse Friedman said.
According to Band Director Joel Carlson, all of the students’ preparation and hardwork resulted in the show’s success.

“The audience enjoyed the concert, and each band played well,” Carlson said. “I am very proud of our performance as a whole.”
