Mira Costa’s boys basketball team defeated Bishop Manogue High School 59-44 on Thursday in the Torrey Pines Tournament in San Diego. The top players were senior point guard Brandon Chan with 16 points and junior shooting guard Bobby Barkley with 15 points.

Costa started the game slow with very few baskets but were able to stay close to Bishop. The Mustangs came out in the fourth quarter with all guards and gained a large lead, causing them to win 59-44.

“We had great energy on defense the whole game and moved the ball well on offense,” junior shooting guard Morgan Clark said.

The Mustangs, now 7-6 overall, will next play Laguna Beach in the championship game on Friday in the Torrey Pines Tournament. According to Clark, the next game will go well if the team continues to do what it has been doing in the past games.

“They look pretty big so we’re planning on spacing them out and trying to bring their bigs out of the paint when they are on defense,” senior forward Jonas Pittman said.
