Mira Costa’s baseball team defeated Vista Murrieta High School in San Juan Capistrano on Wednesday. Top performances from sophomore pitcher Joey Acosta and senior third baseman Matt Beserra helped keep Murrieta scoreless.

The game was scoreless until Costa scored three runs at the bottom of the fourth inning. Acosta pitched for six innings, only allowing three hits throughout, with three strikeouts. Defense did really well in the game according to Acosta.

“We were making all the plays at the right time,” Acosta said. “Offensively we stuck to our game plan and pushed runs across against a very good pitcher.”

The Mustangs now 11-6 overall will go into their third game of the Boras tournament tomorrow  at Junipero Serra in San Juan Capistrano. Pitching was great today and they really want to bring that to tomorrow’s game Beserra said.

“We played an outstanding game today,” Beserra said. “It was a great team win and we are ready to get back out there tomorrow.”
