Mira Costa lost two of their three tournament games in the Santa Barbara Tournament of Champions on Dec. 23, leaving their overall record at 9-10.
Senior co-captain Kylie Nakamine scored 18 points and made 8 rebounds to lead the Mustangs. Senior co-captain Jenna Stephanoff also showed a great inside presence, leading the Mustangs in action off the ‘boards’ with 10 rebounds.
The Mustangs lacked support from their bench in all three games. Over the course of the tournament, seniors Kylie Nakamine, Joelle Herron and Jenna Stephanoff accounted for 67 percent of the total points and assists, and over 57 percent of the teams total rebounds and steals.
The Mustangs next seek the 10-9 Ventura Cougars at the West Coast Holiday Festival on Dec. 31.
