The fire alarm went off during second period today which forced students and staff to evacuate from their classes.

The alarm that went off was a false alarm but it was not a drill. There is a drill scheduled for tomorrow during second period, which will still take place.

“You’ve got to be ready at all times for an emergency,” science teacher James Locke said. “You never know it is going to be a false alarm or a real alarm.”

The false alarm lasted for approximately ten minutes and classes evacuated to their set locations, which is on one of the fields throughout the school. Each classroom has a copy of the evacuation route in case of an emergency.

“Although it is disruptive, we must follow the system in place to be safe,” Locke said. “It is not something to be annoyed or upset over because it is good preparation for an emergency.”
