Costa Boys Tennis defeats Loyola

The Mira Costa boys tennis team defeated Loyola high school at home on Tuesday, Mar. 6 in one of the first matches of the season. Junior Matthew Poh had an outstanding performance winning two of his singles matches 6-0.

Overall the Mustangs had a great performance with Poh winning two of his matches 6-0 and junior Kyle Sillman winning his first singles match 6-1 to put the team in the lead.  Ben Choromanski and his doubles partner won their first match 7-6 after an intense tiebreaker, but lost their second match 6-1.

“The team’s strength was our ability to communicate with each other while still staying positive,” Senior Shant Samuelian said.

The Mustangs are currently 2-0 overall and will play against the Brentwood Eagles on Thursday, Mar. 8 at Brentwood high school.

“We also had the willingness to work hard at each and every point,” Samuelian said.
